Siparila Oy establishes its sixth factory in Finland by purchasing a 4000m2 property from Jykia Oy in Vihtavuori, Laukaa. The new unit will manufacture highly processed exterior cladding products. The distribution of finished outdoor cladding products will also be handled from Laukaa. The investment in the first phase is worth more than EUR 3 million. In addition to machinery and equipment, it also includes the construction of warehouse buildings.
The investment will ensure the company's growth, as it is currently operating at full capacity, especially in the outdoor sector. In line with its strategy, Siparila aims to achieve 15-20% annual growth over the next three years. This growth will largely be made possible by the new unit in Lauka. Locating in Laukaa will increase the vitality of the region and bring much-needed jobs to the area. Operations in Laukaa will start at the end of 2021 and in the first year of operation will account for around €10 million of turnover. The unit will employ 10-15 people from the start and the need will grow to around 30 people in the future.
"We are looking for suitable expansion directions around Finland. Jykia's contact made us think about locating in Laukaa, and eventually all the pieces fell into place. We found a property that suited our purposes and was a good distance from our current premises in Vaajakoski. Production is carried out in Vaajakoski, from where the products are transported to Laukainen for finishing and storage," says Juha Sojakka, Managing Director of Siparila.
In the past, the Vihtavuori property has been home to a machine shop company and, most recently, Metsä Fibre.
"We are pleased to have found a new owner for Vihtavuore. We were looking for an owner who would be growth-oriented and would bring new jobs to the area. We wish Siparila a bright future in Vihtavuori," says Seija Takanen, Managing Director of Jykia.
Siparila is a woodworking company employing 170 woodworking and surface treatment professionals in Vaajakoski, Myllykoski, Teuva, Parkano and Kajaani. Siparilan manufactures, among other things, exterior cladding and interior panels for retailers and the construction industry. Siparilan's wooden construction surface materials are in demand worldwide. The company's turnover is expected to grow to around EUR 55 million in 2021.
"Siparila Oy was established in Vaajakoski in 2003. Vaajakoski is still the company's largest site, but it is no longer possible to expand further due to limited land. Vihtavuori in Laukka is nearby, only 17 km away. Together, Laukaa and Vaajakoski, along with our other units, will enable Siparila's future growth," says Sojakka.
