Sokos Hotel Bomba
Sokos Hotel Bomba is located in Nurmes, next to Karelian village which was built 40 years ago respecting the traditions. The hotel’s design, as well as hotel rooms and the spa’s décor have been wanted to renew and bring to façade a vision of Finnish building tradition.
The aim of architect Jaakko Puro was to find surface finish, that imitate old, covered by patina tar surface. Siparila took the challenge and developed fast installing, long-lasting and ready painted PAANU- exterior siding which got inspired by traditional shingle panels. So, the whole is combined with a mystical dark atmosphere that is enlivened with earthy shades.
Size of one shingle is 20 mm thickness, 215 mm width and 720 length. The siding weather-resistance was improved by formatting shingles in such a way that it is possible to connect them by hidden fastening. In this way the nails do not break the pre-painted surface and water cannot damage the wood from the nails. Shingles were treated three times that they will be completely ready. Thus, the façade did not need to be surface-treated after installation, saving costs and speeding up the construction process.
The Spa hotel has 113 rooms and in Spa space for 170 visitors. Sokos Hotel Bomba is surrounded by 11 hectares of nature beauty of Kainuu on a amazing Pielinen beach.
