Alvardag: DesignByLauri

Lauri Ylönen has designed a house for Toni Wirtanen and Jannika B., a fishing lodge for Hissu and Tommi, a hideaway for Mikko Kuustonen and a luxurious apartment for Ville Leino. Alvardag always aims to bring something from nature into the design. Alvardag's houses are built with materials that protect nature and respect the environment; rough surfaces are allowed to remain visible inside the home and large windows let in natural light. Flowing shapes guide the house design from the big lines to the small details. The streamlined design is supported by the straight-edged UTS panels used on the facades, which are ideal for vertical cladding. The exterior cladding panels were to be fixed in the traditional way by nailing from the top, so the SILVER exterior cladding panel was chosen, which is primed and top-coated. The topcoat protects the wood during the construction phase, but requires one more coat on site to ensure long-term durability. This will provide effective protection for the wood through the first winter and the final coat can be applied in the spring. Nail heads that remain on the surface of the wood should always be well protected to prevent moisture from damaging the wood.
