Forest Pavilion

The Forest Pavilion will be located on the grounds of the Finnish Embassy in Tokyo until the end of 2021. During the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the pavilion was the home base for the Finnish teams.

The pavilion is operated by Business Finland and is one of the most significant export projects of Finnish expertise to Japan in history, as dozens of Finnish companies are exhibiting in the pavilion. Siparila's KOO2 interior panels were selected as the wall panels for the pavilion.

All KOO panels (KOO, KOO2 and KOO4) are interior panels designed by Kari Lappalainen. The most popular of these is the single-row and slightly garish KOO2 panel, because its modern and minimalist design is perfect for any room and any location. They have been used in wet rooms, living rooms, lobbies, bedrooms and kitchens.

All knockout panels are concealed, so there are no visible nail holes. The end result is a smooth, even finish that shows off the beautiful colours and shapes of the wood. The panels are also durable, with a thickness of 21 mm, which is a very high thickness for interior panels.

The use of wood in interior design has numerous benefits. Looking at and touching wood relieves stress by reducing cortisol hormone secretion when you are in an environment that feels as natural as possible. In addition, the acoustic properties of wood improve the acoustics of a room, making it more pleasant to the ears.
