An impressive house to live in for a long time
Sanna and Harri Mehto built a detached house in Tarhamäki, Jyväskylä. They had carefully thought out all the details, and Siparila's products were an obvious choice for both the facade and interior.
When Harri Mehto, an electrical entrepreneur, started planning a house project, the goal was a house where everything was like he wanted, modern and impressive.
"I had already built several houses before. Now the starting point was that this is the last house I will build," says Mehto.
The architect designed the approximately 250-square-meter, two-story house but very strongly according to the Mehtos' wishes.
"All spaces were made exactly as we wanted, with our specifications. The house is airy, and the room height is 3.5 meters. In the living room, the windows are high, up to the edge of the terrace roof. We also wanted showiness and modernity from the materials," describes Mehto.
Quality, style, and durability with Siparila's products
In a large detached house, there were lots of surfaces. In many of them, Mehto chose Siparila's products as surface materials because he was already familiar with them.
"They are high quality and modern, and you can't get similar ones anywhere else. I had experience with Siparila's products from previous construction projects, and I knew cooperation with Siparila's team would work. Getting the goods was also easy, as the factory is located nearby, in Vaajakoski."
The exterior of the house is entirely clad in wood, and to achieve the desired look, Mehto used Siparila’s durable, translucent, concealed-fastening Topcoat panels, which feature a straight faux groove.
“I wanted a narrow, slatted-like surface for the facade, and this product was just right for that. The panels came pre-painted, so they were easy to install. For the eaves, we used wide Topcoat panels.”
The terrace material is larch supplied by Siparila, and Mehto also used it in the former house he built.
"It turned out to be great stuff. The terrace boards are high-quality, wide, and impressive-looking. They last from father to son."
Inside the house, there are Siparila panels in several different rooms: on ceilings, walls, and boards.
“The ceiling panels in the restrooms echo the same slatted design found in the exterior cladding, implemented using Puro panels. We have a lot of light oak in the interior—for example, in the kitchen cabinets and interior doors—which is why I also chose Puro panels made of oak,” Mehto explains.
"Siparila also delivered us Thermory’s thermally modified Magnolia to the sauna and the walls and ceiling of the downstairs toilets. The bathrooms have a large tile surface with white, brown, black, and reddish colors. The tone of Magnolia fits it really well."
Every detail worked out perfectly
The Mehtos' house got ready in an unusually short time: construction began in April 2022, and in November of the same year, everything was already done – including the final inspection and the yard. Siparila's easy-to-install products and smooth service contributed to the fast schedule.
"The service was outstanding, and the deliveries came exactly as agreed. It was easy to rely on products that I knew were of high quality and modern," says Mehto.
"Siparila also handled the complaint situation really well when some of the panels had remained damp, and the paint surfaces had stuck to each other. Siparila replaced them quickly with new items, and our construction project stayed on schedule."
The new home has fulfilled the Mehtos' wishes in every way, and it seems they will enjoy living in this house for a long time.
"I just said to my wife that we do have a wonderful house. I am completely satisfied with every single detail. The professionals involved in construction were competent, and the material choices hit the spot."
