Glass Resort – unique experiences in a high-quality setting in Lapland

The interior of Glass Resort, located in the Arctic Circle, is created with the best Finnish natural materials. Siparila's high-quality AAVA and VIRE interior panels are part of this unique whole.

Glass Resort offers its guests first-class accommodation in unique glass apartments in Rovaniemi. The family-run company places special emphasis on a warm atmosphere and personal customer service: every guest is an individual, whose holiday is to be given a unique starting point.

In addition to first-class service, the quality can be seen tangibly everywhere in Glass Resort. Real natural materials have been used in construction and interior design. Scandinavian and local design bring a unique look to the premises, and the details have been carefully considered.

This year, Glass Resort's 24 glass apartments and the main building were complemented by a Premium Lodge apartment suitable for a larger group, with room for nine guests.

"Premium Lodge has lounges and a sauna section downstairs and four bedrooms upstairs. As far as we know, there is no other building like this. The building resembles a Sámi hut in its design, combining Lapland's traditions and experientiality. Through the large glass surfaces, you can admire the northern lights and relax outside in the jacuzzi", describes Minna Pennanen, who owns Glass Resort with her husband, Petri Palkinen.

The AAVA and VIRE interior panels met the expectations in terms of appearance and properties

Minna Pennanen immersed herself in the implementation of Premium Lodge very intensively.

"In recent years, I have studied interior design and used this know-how in our projects. At Premium Lodge, I was in the roles of a decorator and coordinator."

In interior design, the goal was to find high-quality solutions that support the creation of the desired atmosphere and, on the other hand, withstand time and consumption. For the interior surfaces of the Premium Lodge, Pennanen chose Siparila's AAVA interior panel in the dark Polar Night shade and the VIRE interior panel designed by Ristomatti Ratia in the lighter Translucent Sand shade.

"We wanted to use a lot of wood. An important point of view was ecology, but also acoustics: the wood as a material is suitable for creating a quiet and peaceful environment", explains Pennanen.

"I was already familiar with Siparila. I got to know the brand at a trade fair and already had their model pieces. For me, Siparila represented quality."

"Now, I was looking for a black-toned, wide panel which elegantly decorates the shape of the hut. I found a new product in Siparila's selection: the AAVA interior panel piqued my interest. The grain of the wood is beautifully visible on its surface, just like I wanted."

"When choosing the products, I also thought about durability and longevity. We have lots of customers, so the materials have to be of high quality and easy to keep clean so that we don't have to change them all the time."

For the bathroom ceilings in the apartment, Pennanen wanted moisture-resistant material, and she found it also at Siparila. The VIRE panel with a wavy surface met this requirement, and its appearance pleased the designer's eye.

"The VIRE panel looks impressive, and the material itself is good. When the color also was right, the choice was easy. I will definitely use the VIRE panel as an effect wall in other projects, too," says Pennanen.

With Siparila, the project was smooth, and the result was even better than expected

Premium Lodge was completed for the beginning of December 2022, just like it was scheduled. The first customers stayed in the brand-new apartment right away

"With this building, we wanted to offer a demanding customer group a unique experience with more luxury, silence, calm, and warmth. Overall, we reached that goal. This has also been a great experience for me," says Pennanen.

Pennanen is very satisfied with Siparila's service and plans to continue cooperation.

"I had an excellent cooperation experience: the service was good, and the deliveries came on time. It is important in a project like this because everything must be ordered early. Siparila also handled our additional orders on a very fast schedule when we needed shadow mouldings for the bathrooms. Our contact person at Siparila, Sinikka Huhta-aho, has ensured that everything is well, and we have received help whenever we needed it."

"We intend to build three more slightly smaller apartments with the same idea, and we will certainly continue to cooperate with Siparila for those as well."

In Pennanen's opinion, the best part of the project with Siparila was the end result. Even though she had seen the model pieces beforehand, she was surprised by the elegance of the finished surface.

"As a big surface, the black AAVA panel looks really nice. It was a successful choice for this particular site."

"Furthermore, it was a wonderful surprise when Siparila came here and shot beautiful videos of Premium Lodge. We also got material for our use."
