As Oy Vuoreksen Kosmos, Tampere

As Oy Vuorekssen Kosmos, located in Vuoreks in Tampere, is one of the largest and most modern wood city environments in Finland. Kosmos represents a new type of Scandinavian apartment building, combining the safety and excellent sound insulation of concrete construction with the warm atmosphere of wood construction. Kosmos consists of three blocks of flats and two loft buildings with a total of 132 apartments. As Oy Vuoreksen Kosmos offers apartments ranging from small studios to larger homes. Kosmos as a whole covers 4600 m².

Fire-retardant exterior cladding panels have been used on the facades of Kosmos. Fire protection for wood-based building products increases the building’s fire resistance rating. Fire-retardant exterior cladding panels slow the spread of fire, which, in the event of a fire, provides more time for evacuation and firefighting efforts and minimizes fire damage. The fire-retardant Siparila panels used in Kosmos are top-of-the-line, ultra-safe exterior cladding panels with the highest fire rating (fire class: B-s1, d0), manufactured at the Myllykoski plant.

The facades of Kosmos are adorned with natural, translucent shades. The facades of the building have been given a lively feel by varying the shades between the different walls of the apartment building. The light, cool, and serene snow and the fox, which highlights the warmth of wood, come together to form an elegant whole. The dark tones used on the roofs and balconies are complemented in Kosmos by the pitch-black slatted railings.

Fire-rated exterior cladding panels are fully factory-painted, which speeds up the construction process. The concealed fastening system used for Topcoat panels also ensures excellent weather resistance for the wood, as the fastener heads are always hidden beneath the next panel, resulting in a nail-free facade.
