Tiiu Puranen – Finland's Most Beautiful Horse Stable

Tiiu Puranen is a passionate horse lover whose love for horses has lasted from childhood into adulthood. Although she took a 14-year break from horses after her junior years, she soon realized that life without horses felt empty. "I feel like I am the best version of myself when I am with horses. In life, it is important to find inspiration for everyday life from your own passions," Tiiu emphasizes.

The decision to build the stable came when Tiiu had three horses of her own. At that point, building a stable made sense both financially and in terms of time. Tiiu's goal was to design a stable that would be comfortable for both horses and people, and where daily activities could be carried out effortlessly. "During the design phase, I paid particular attention to the stable's daily activities and logistics. With good planning, I was able to reduce the physical workload and create flexibility in my own daily life." Now, in her own stable, Tiiu has a clear system for how the horses are cared for and how the daily routine is structured. For example, on weekends, the horses are fed automatically from feeding machines, and Tiiu can enjoy a peaceful morning.

A stable building that blends in with the environment

According to Tiiu, the barn is divinely beautiful. She is a visual person and wanted the barn to blend in with its surroundings. "It's important to me that things are beautiful to my eye. It brings me peace and comfort."

When selecting materials and partners, Tiiu favored local companies and those that had proven themselves in previous projects. “I wanted the barn to match the appearance of my house. For this reason, Siparila exterior cladding was the only option for the barn’s exterior.”

Siparila's NORDIC series exterior cladding panels, pre-treated to a ready-to-use shade, sped up construction, and the straight-edged UTS profile gave the building a stylish, streamlined look. A wider version of the same panel was used in Tiiu's detached house. The construction project went well for the most part, even though the sloping building site seemed difficult at first. "A sloping plot as a building site offers great opportunities for space utilization. On the other hand, the severe frosts affected the installation method of the wall insulation, but we had to adapt to this in order to stay on schedule."

Smooth cooperation is critical in construction

The stable was completed in 10 months. Smooth cooperation was crucial for the project's success. "Siparila's expertise in material selection and professionalism throughout the project was unique. The pre-treated products are high quality, and Finnish wood is gorgeous."

The stable has received much positive feedback. Tiiu mentions that many people worldwide have followed the project on TikTok, and everyone agrees that this is one of the most beautiful horse stables imaginable. Visitors and horse owners also find the stable exceptionally functional and cozy.

The new stable has significantly improved the well-being of Tiiu and her horses. She now has more time in her day and can take care of the horses without stress. "Contrary to all the scare stories about this, moving the horses to my home stable has given me more hours in my day," Tiiu says happily.

Tiiu encourages others considering similar projects to believe in their dreams and take action. She emphasizes the importance of careful planning and choosing materials that speed up construction. "Dare to take action, and remember not to let others discourage you. In life, it's important to do projects that are meaningful to you and strive toward your own dreams—even if they seem impossible or difficult to others," says Tiiu.

Plans

Tiiu intends to enjoy this new phase of her life to the fullest. "Right now, my dreams have pretty much come true. Next, I am looking forward to my first foal moving into my home and the opportunities that come with it. I am enjoying every day of this new phase of my life and am just living in the moment, without dreaming of anything bigger."
