Tiiu Puranen – Finland's Most Beautiful Horse Stable

Tiiu Puranen is a passionate horse enthusiast whose love for horses has lasted from childhood to adulthood. Although she took a 14-year break from horses after her junior years, she soon realised that life without horses felt empty. "I feel like I am the best version of myself with horses. It's important in life to find your own passion to fuel your ordinary days." Tiiu stresses.

The decision to build a stable was made when Tiiu had three horses of his own. Economically and time-wise, it made sense at that point to build a stable. Tiiu's goal was to design a stable that would be comfortable for both horses and people, and where daily activities would run smoothly. "During the design phase, I paid particular attention to the daily operations and logistics of the stable. Good planning allowed me to reduce the physical workload and create flexibility in my daily life." Now, in his own stable, Tiiu has a clear system of how the horses are cared for and how the daily rhythm is structured. At weekends, for example, the horses are fed automatically from the feeding machines and Tiiu can enjoy a peaceful morning by herself.

A stable building that blends in with the environment

Tiiu says the stable is divinely beautiful. She is a visual person and wanted the stable to blend in with its surroundings "It's important to me that things are beautiful to my eyes. It brings me peace and comfort."

When choosing materials and partners, Tiiu favoured local content and companies that had proven themselves in previous projects. "I wanted the house to look like my house. For this reason, Siparila's exterior cladding was the only choice for the exterior of the garage."

Siparila's NORDIC Series pre-finished exterior cladding panel in an audible tone made construction faster and the straight-edged UTS profile gave the building a sleek, streamlined look. A wider version of the same panel has been used in Tiiu's detached house. The construction project went well for the most part, although the sloping site initially felt awkward. "The hillside plot as a building site gives you the opportunity to use the space very well. On the other hand, severe frosts affected the way the wall wool insulation was installed, but these had to be adapted to keep to schedule."

Smooth cooperation is critical in construction

The stable was completed in 10 months. Smooth cooperation was crucial for the project's success. "Siparila's expertise in material selection and professionalism throughout the project was unique. The pre-treated products are high quality, and Finnish wood is gorgeous."

The stable has received much positive feedback. Tiiu mentions that many people worldwide have followed the project on TikTok, and everyone agrees that this is one of the most beautiful horse stables imaginable. Visitors and horse owners also find the stable exceptionally functional and cozy.

The new stable has improved the welfare of Tiiu and the horses significantly. She has more time in her day and is now able to care for the horses without stress. "Contrary to all my fears, moving the horses into my home has brought more hours into my day," Tiiu says happily.

Tiiu encourages others who are considering a similar project to believe in their dreams and take action. She stresses the importance of careful planning and the choice of materials to speed up construction. "Dare to go for it, and remember not to be swayed by other people's foolishness. In life, it's important to do projects that make sense to you and to strive towards your own dreams - even if they seem impossible or difficult to achieve in the eyes of others," says Tiiu.

Plans

Tiiu intends to enjoy this new phase of her life to the full. "Right now, my dreams are pretty much fulfilled. Next I'm looking forward to the arrival of my first foal, and the opportunities it will bring. I'm enjoying every day of this new phase of my life and I'm just in the moment for a while, without dreaming bigger."
