Vehryt Nouka - durable and stunning panels

When Vehryt Nouka, a provider of banqueting and catering services, renovated its premises, the focus was on durability and appearance.

Vehryt Nouka is located in Jyväskylä, Central Finland, in a place called Noukanniemi. Vehryt Nouka is a banquet venue and restaurant on demand, offering corporate and private clients banquet, event, recreation, and meeting services. Vehryt Nouka's ambiance is unique, as the premises are peaceful on the shores of Päijänne, surrounded by nature. Noukanniemi had run a restaurant business before, but in 2021, Vehryt Nouka's entrepreneurial couple,  Emma and Ville Kankkunen, decided to renew the premises and operations.
 

The renovation involved a major transformation of the spaces, for example, converting what were previously hotel rooms into meeting and lounge areas. Siparila's versatile interior design products played a key role in selecting the right products for the ballroom, cabinet, lounge and sauna areas. The choice of materials was made by Taina Hiltunen, an entrepreneur and interior designer from SisustusTaina, who was given free rein in the design process by choosing stunning and durable panels from Siparila's range.

"Vehryt Nouka was an extensive and interesting design project that involved a lot of changes to the spaces and their functions. It was great to use Siparila products because they are versatile and can be installed in many ways. In addition, Siparila's products made it possible to bring the green nature surrounding the building from outside to inside – the wood panels are natural in themselves, and the surfaces were varied and interesting," Hiltunen describes her design work.

Siparila's products met the aesthetics and durability requirements

Siparila products were familiar to Kankkunens, making them a natural choice for renovating Vehryt Nouka's premises. The products used in the project were selected for the premises, particularly for their aesthetics and durability.

"We already had an excellent experience with Siparila's products: in addition to their beautiful appearance, they are durable. This is an important feature for us as a banqueting and catering company, as the premises move a lot of furniture around and are visited by many people," say the Kankkunens.

Sustainability and ecology are essential priorities for Vehryt Nouka, according to the Kankkunens. When the premises were renovated, the energy efficiency of the building was more than halved. In addition, the aim is to minimize waste in everyday life as much as possible, and this has been done successfully - Vehryt Nouka only generates about the same amount of waste as an average large family. 

One of the most stunning terraces in Päijänne was created from thermally modified wood

Updating the terrace area became necessary in the spring of 2023 when the Kankkunens wanted to develop the terrace area of Vehryt Nouka as well.

"We wanted to improve our recreational services and set out to expand the sauna facilities to the terrace, which previously only accommodated outdoor pools. We wanted the terrace area to be able to accommodate seating, dining and dancing, as well as space for bands to perform," the Kankkuses explain.

They decided to extend the terrace with Siparila's durable THERMODECK Classic terrace board. As a renewable natural material, thermally modified wood was also a clear choice from an ecological point of view. In addition, an impressive pergola was built from thermally modified wood to border and landscape the terrace.

"We can now market one of the most beautiful terraces in Päijänne with a clear conscience," said the Kankkunens.

The interior panels were chosen to match the mood of the premises

Siparila supplied several different products to Vehryt Nouka: PALA, ROSO and STRUKTUURI decorative panels were installed on the premises. Thermally modified In addition to the terrace, the Garden series poles and latticework were supplied for the outdoor areas. According to the Kankkus, Siparila's service was straightforward and smooth from start to finish, and they are happy to recommend Siparila's products to others.

According to Hiltunen, who was responsible for the design, Siparila's product range made it possible to create a very different atmosphere in the premises:

"For example, a light birch panel was used to create light in the lobby, while a darker panel was used to give the lounge area an extra flair."

The panel choices for these two spaces are particularly successful, both for Kankkunens and Vehryt Nouka's clients:

"The PALA panel wall in the lobby has attracted much attention from our clients. The pearl grey STRUKTUURI panel in our lounge is also incredibly stunning. It's our favorite product."
